Gallipoli Ammo Bearer Guide
Keep the line shooting when belts, grenades, and patience all run dry.
Ammo Bearer is one of the support classes BlackMill Games highlighted as new for Gallipoli, and it is the quiet reason many Expedition attacks survive the second sector. Official class copy is blunt: you supply allies with plenty of ammo, you can spawn on squad members, and you move faster while holding an ammo box. The two kits split that fantasy into an offensive backpack resupply role versus a defensive crate-layer. If you enjoyed being the person who made Isonzo’s machine-gunners useful, this is your page. Pair it with Stretcher Bearer so your squad does not pick two medics and zero logistics.
Read the Classes Overview for the full ten-class roster, then come back here when you have decided to main sustain.
Why ammo is a win condition
Gallipoli’s gunplay is weighty on purpose. Weapons & gunplay covers suppression, methodical reloads, and familiarity bonuses. None of that matters if the Heavy Machine Gunner’s belt is empty when the Anzac wave stands up. Bombers dump grenades to clear a Headquarters secure. Light Machine Gunners in Kut burn magazines holding a doorway. Officers call support and then look down to find they have no rounds for the rifle they still have to fight with.
Expedition punishes that emptiness twice. Dead attackers spend Momentum. Dry attackers then die because they peeked a loaded Ottoman nest. An Ammo Bearer who lives one ridge behind the guns converts those deaths into a second attempt. That is why this wiki’s class tier list keeps talking about sustain even before live stats exist.
The two kits, in plain language
BlackMill’s March 2026 classes blog described the split without dumping every number:
- Offensive kit — teammates can resupply from your backpack. You are a moving depot. Stay near the push, not in spawn. The backpack fantasy is for squads that relocate every thirty seconds: beach exits, Ctesiphon arch funnels, Kut alley clears.
- Defensive kit — you place extra ammo crates. You are infrastructure. Drop crates on a nest you intend to keep, then guard the crate like it is a mini-objective. This kit shines when a Heavy Machine Gunner has already claimed a lane on Cape Helles or the Gurkha Mound.
Both kits still expect you to shoot. You are not a civilian. You are a soldier whose primary contribution is that the people with the scary guns never go quiet. If you treat the role as an AFK crate simulator, you will die first and your crate will feed the enemy instead.
Spawn-on-squad is the hidden mobility tool. When your Officer or HMG is already forward, do not run the entire beach again. Spawn on them, pick up the box, and top the nest. Combined with faster movement while carrying the box, you can actually outrun a Rifleman who is jogging empty-handed — which is the point.
Where to stand (and where to die)
Anzac Cove and Cape Helles. The first crate belongs off the sand, behind the first hard cover that still sees the nest. If you dump ammo on the beach, the next wave uses it as a loot pinata while Ottoman Maxims farm you. See beach landings and the Cape Helles map page for River Clyde exit geometry.
Ctesiphon. The Gurkha Mound and the Arch eat belts. Put the defensive crate on the mound behind the gunner, not on the skyline. Offensive backpack play is better under the arch where the fight relocates every minute. Ctesiphon map guide.
Kut Al Amara. Short streets, lots of Bombers, lots of panic reloads. Backpack resupply wins here because crates get isolated in rooms nobody holds. Stay with the Officer or the Bomber stack that is actually taking Headquarters. Kut Al Amara.
Never stand in the same portal as the HMG. Snipers look for the pair. Offset by a few metres of dead ground so a single bullet does not delete both the gun and the logistics.
Squad habits that make you valuable
- Ping empty guns before they ping you. If a Heavy Machine Gunner is dry, the ping system is your job as much as theirs.
- Feed Bombers before a Headquarters secure, not after they have already cooked the plant with zero grenades left. Expedition Mode explains why that plant window is the whole sector.
- If you are the backpack kit, you are a revive-adjacent body. You will often be the closest person when a Stretcher Bearer is elsewhere. Any class can revive; do it.
- If you are the crate kit, treat a lost crate as a lost Support Objective. Recapture or replace it instead of arguing in chat.
- Do not steal the Officer slot because “support is boring.” Gallipoli’s squad limits are tighter than Isonzo’s grab-bag Assault days. Read what’s new.
Loadout thinking without fake DPS charts
Carry a primary you can actually fight with at the ranges you service. On beaches that means a rifle you can shoulder when a flanker finds the crate. In Kut that means something you can hip-fight in a doorway. The weapon tier list and best loadouts talk about ammo tax as a hidden stat — you are that stat. Sidearms exist so you can drop the box, kill the scavenger, and pick the box back up.
Weight matters. Official kits publish weight and ammo counts. A heavier crate kit that arrives late is worse than a lighter backpack that arrives with the first wave. Settings will not save you from spawning late and jogging across open sand.
Practice block
Use bots & practice to rehearse: spawn on a squadmate, sprint the box to a deployed HMG, top them, then relocate ten metres. Do that until it is boring. Live Ctesiphon players will not wait for you to remember the bind.
If the Class Picker routed you here, stay. Gallipoli’s 25v25 math is cruel to teams that only brought rifles. Be the reason the nest never goes quiet, then let the kill feed belong to someone else.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is Ammo Bearer a new Gallipoli class?
Yes. BlackMill listed Ammo Bearer among the new support classes alongside Stretcher Bearer, Bomber, and Heavy Machine Gunner.
What is the difference between the two Ammo Bearer kits?
The offensive kit lets teammates resupply from your backpack. The defensive kit places extra ammo crates for a nest you intend to hold.
Can Ammo Bearers spawn on squadmates?
Official class copy says they can spawn on squad members and move faster while holding an ammo box.
Should beginners main Ammo Bearer?
It is one of the best first mains. You learn where fights stall, you help Expedition Momentum, and you still carry a gun.
