Classes

Gallipoli HMG, Sniper, LMG & Bomber

How Gallipoli’s gun and breach classes shape Expedition sectors.

Firepower Roles

Gallipoli’s firepower classes are the reason an Officer’s plan becomes a secured Headquarters. This page groups Heavy Machine Gunner (HMG), Sniper, Light Machine Gunner (LMG), and Bomber — the roles that deny lanes, delete key targets, move suppression with the squad, and crack fortified objectives in BlackMill Games’ 25v25 Expedition battles.

Use the Classes Hub and Classes Overview for the full ten-class picture. Pair this guide with Officer Guide and Stretcher Bearer so your kills actually stick on the Momentum bar. Mode rules live in Expedition Mode.

Shared firepower principles

All four roles obey the same WW1 series truths:

  • Position beats spray. One-shot-one-kill gunplay punishes panic hipfire and rewards prepared angles.
  • Suppression is content. Keeping heads down can be worth more than a risky peek for a second kill.
  • Ammo is a squad resource. Live near Ammo Bearers when belts and explosives start to matter.
  • Objectives > duel scoreboards. A quiet HMG that freezes a beach crossing helps more than a Sniper farming irrelevant flanks.

Heavy Machine Gunner

HMGs own open ground. On Anzac, a well-placed heavy gun can make a landing lane unusable until attackers commit smoke, Sniper picks, or a wide flank. On defense, set before the attackers crest; on attack, displace after each secure so you are not holding a lane the war already left behind.

HMG habits:

  • Anchor sightlines that protect Headquarters approaches or punish Support Objective rotations.
  • Ask your Officer for a clear “set” call before the squad crosses.
  • Expect Snipers to hunt your muzzle flash — shift nests instead of ego-challenging every glint.

Sniper

Snipers are lane police and high-value hunters. Priority targets are Officers, exposed HMGs, and Stretcher Bearers repeating the same revive path. On Cape Helles, patience beats greed; the best shot is often the gunner who would have wiped your Bomber stack ten seconds later.

Sniper habits:

  • Take angles that see the objective without standing on the most obvious ridge silhouette.
  • Communicate deletions: “Officer down, left trench” lets Stretcher Bearers and attackers adjust.
  • Rotate when your first two picks educate the entire enemy squad about your rock.

Avoid turning every match into a private sniper duel away from Headquarters. Expedition Momentum does not care about your mid-map rivalry.

Light Machine Gunner

LMGs are the mobile middle ground. They move with the squad, hold corners in Kut, and provide walking suppression when an HMG nest is too slow for the next street. If HMGs are architecture, LMGs are furniture you can rearrange mid-fight.

LMG habits:

  • Stay one cover piece ahead of pure riflemen, one piece behind the Bombers who need the door cracked.
  • Short controlled bursts win more urban fights than heroic full-mag sprays.
  • Reposition whenever Headquarters secures — your value is presence on the new sector, not nostalgia for the last alley.

Bomber

Bombers exist for the ugly meters around a Headquarters or fortified approach. Grenades, charges, and close-range tools turn contested buildings into secured ones. On Cape Helles and in Kut interiors, Bombers are often the difference between a stall and a sector advance.

Bomber habits:

  • Wait for HMG or LMG suppression before the final entry.
  • Coordinate with Ammo Bearers so the second wave of explosives actually exists.
  • After a clear, do not chase; hold the secure long enough for the Headquarters lock to complete.

Bombers who die alone in a doorway without an Officer timer or gun support are donating Momentum.

Squad packaging

A practical fireteam around these roles:

  • Officer for timing (Officer Guide)
  • Stretcher Bearer for refunds (Stretcher Bearer)
  • Ammo Bearer glued to HMG/LMG/Bomber spend
  • One long-range piece (HMG or Sniper) and one close piece (LMG or Bomber)

If your pub squad already has three Snipers, switch to LMG or Bomber. Role diversity wins Expedition more often than stacked pickoff classes.

Progression into tier and loadout pages

Pre-launch rankings on the Class Tier List and Weapon Tier List are series-veteran projections, not official BlackMill rankings. Use them to plan practice priorities, then rebuild after the August 20, 2026 launch. Concrete kit shortlists belong on Best Loadouts. Playstyle routing lives on the Class Picker. Visibility and audio tuning for gun roles sits in the Settings Optimizer.

Drills before launch

  1. Play an HMG match focused only on denied crossings, not kills.
  2. Play a Sniper match where every shot must be an Officer, gunner, or Bearer.
  3. Play an LMG match that never leaves the active squad blob in Kut-style spaces.
  4. Play a Bomber match that measures successful Headquarters secures.
  5. Review Getting Started and Expedition Mode so firepower serves the mode, not the other way around.

Master these four roles and the rest of the roster suddenly has room to work. Firepower without sustain dies; sustain without firepower stalls. Gallipoli asks for both.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Which firepower class is best for beginners?

LMG is often the gentlest on-ramp because it stays with the squad. HMG and Sniper demand stronger positioning; Bomber demands timing with teammates.

Should I run HMG and Sniper together?

Yes on open maps like Anzac. On Kut, swap some long-range slots to LMG and Bomber so the squad can actually take rooms.

How do firepower classes interact with Momentum?

They reduce attacker deaths by winning lanes and shorten Headquarters fights with breaches. Poor positioning does the opposite by feeding the Momentum drain.

Where are weapon rankings?

See the Weapon Tier List and Best Loadouts pages. Treat pre-launch lists as projections until post-launch data arrives.
